Be Joyful

Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. Be anxious for nothing, but in EVERYTHING by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the PEACE OF GOD, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:4-7

These are verses I memorized years ago and they are written on my heart. There are times when I still need to remember not to be anxious, but I eventually listen to my heart saying these verses. I didn't really understand what the "peace of God" was until I experienced it. It's having peace inside you, even when you're going through heartbreaking situations and trials. It does "surpass ALL understanding" and you know it comes from GOD alone. Praise the Lord for His wonderful promises!

I love, love, love what I do. I am passionate about the things I create and the talents God has placed in me. I SO appreciate the time you take to look at my things and the comments you all leave me!

Blessings to you!

Here is my take on the challenge this week...

I just loved this coral-pink flower and I pretty much did the rest of the card around it.  I found paper that match the color really well and lots of pretty cream color on the rest.  I embossed the background with an embossing folder for a delicate background.  Very, very simple card to make, and I love the way it came out!

For ingredients used:

Stamps: Birthday Blessings (ODBD)
Paper: Natural White (Neenah), Pink (Cardstock Matstack - DCWV), Palo Verde (Bazzills)
Ink: Onyx Black (VersaFine), Sweet Blush (Palette)
Accessories: Labels Four (Spellbinders), Fanciful Flourish (Cheery Lynn), Rose Leaf Punch (Martha Stewart), Charm (RAK from Sabrina), rose flower (Prima), button (Michaels), adhesive pearls (Recollections), Ornate Flowers & Frame Embossing Folder (Sizzix), seam binding & pleated ribbon (Really Reasonable Ribbon)

This week the Alumni team along with some of the ODBD designers are featuring a hop for the For the Love of ODBD Flower sets! Check out each link and leave a comment. If you get lost along the way, go to the ODBD blog for the full link list. One of the post is a hop hot spot and a name will be drawn from that list of comments to win a $15 ODBD store gift certificate. So, all you have to do is hop along and see all the creations and leave a little love! You have until Wednesday,May, 9th at 6 pm. The winner will be announced May 10th! Enjoy all the awesome inspiration using For the Love of ODBD Flower sets!

If you've come here from SANDEE'S Blog, you are in the right place, if not you may want to start back at the ODBD Blog so you don't miss any of the beautiful creations along the way!!!

I chose ODBD's Flower Border Stamp to make my card.  This makes a beautiful frame for Bible Verses, sentiments, and quotes.  The coloring of the flowers on it is really quick and easy to do.

This stamp matches the Spellbinders Labels 18 Dies which ODBD has in their Shop.

For my card, I made a 4 1/4" easel card in white.  I embossed the Black Iris paper with an embossing folder for the background.  I stamped the Floral Frame and colored it with Prismacolor Pencils.  I cut the frame using Labels 18 and then the center with Classic Ovals Nestibilities to create a frame.  I stamped the sentiment using the Sentiments Collection from ODBD and cut it with the Classic Ovals (one size larger than the frame opening).

For the inside of the card, I stamped part of the border on one side and cut it with Labels 18 using a smaller die, colored it to match the front, and popped it up on foam dots.

For ingredients used:

Stamps: Flower Border, Sentiments Collection (ODBD)
Paper: Solar White (Neenah), White (Papertrey Ink), Black Iris (Coredinations), Old Olive (SU), The Preppy Princess Stack (DCWV)
Ink: Onyx Black (VersaFine)
Accessories: Labels 18, Classic Ovals (Spellbinders), Fanciful Flourish (Cheery Lynn), Branches with Leaves and Flowers Embossing Folder (Spellbinders), flower (Recollections), ribbon (Michaels), Bow-Easy, adhesive pearls (Recollections), charm (Michaels)

Now you need to go to the sweet, talented GRACE!!!
Enjoy the HOP!
Blessings!

Here's my take on the challenge this week...I used mostly green.  This lantern image is from "The Light of Life" Stamp Set, which I colored with my Prismacolor Pencils.  I thought this made a nice masculine card for a birthday or Father's Day.

Rest, Strength, and Comfort

Hi there!

I'm back again with another card I made using the layered Crosses, this time making a Double Z-Fold card.  It's my first time doing one of these, pretty easy and fun.  I used the tutorial on Split Coast Stampers' Resources which you can find here

This card is pretty CAS compared to what I normally do, but it didn't seem to need anything more added to it.

Here's the card closed up.

Here it is opened up.

The sentiment on the inside of the card, is from the newly released Sentiments Collection from Our Daily Bread Designs.  I LOVE this set!  These are all sentiments that the designers at ODBD contributed!  So cool!

I'm submitting this to the F4A113 Challenge at Split Coast Stampers to use 2 or more pattern papers.

For ingredients used:

Stamps: Sentiments Collection (Our Daily Bread Designs)
Paper: Linen Closet, Cardstock Stack Pastels (DCWV), Natural White (Neeneh)
Ink: Onyx Black (VersaFine)
Accessories: Floral Ovals, Crosses Two, Moroccan Accents (Spellbinders Dies), adhesive pearls (Recollections), stylus, Petite Petals Punch (McGill), flower (RAK from Sabrina), ribbon (Really Reasonal Ribbon), Hydrangea Punch (Martha Stewart)

That's it for now!  Thanks for stopping by!  Have a wonderful weekend!

Blessings!

Kathy

Purple Cross with Great Peace

Hi there!

I made this easel card using a few different techniques I wanted to try out.

This is the card closed up.

The card itself is made using the Labels Twenty Dies to create the card base.  Angie Crockett did a tutorial on ODBD's Blog in January showing how to make shaped cards from Spellbinder's Dies.  You can find her tutorial here.

I also added a second purple Labels Twenty Die card to the back so that purple would show on the bottom and top of the card and enabled me to turn it into an easel card.  I just used the basic easel card instructions you can find on Split Coast Stampers' Resource Section here.

The mat on the front of the card, was done using the Faux Silk Technique where you use patterned tissue paper to create it.   I bought this tissure paper at a $1 store, and had adhesive paper sheets I bought from Papertrey Ink that worked perfectly for this.  Angie also did a tutorial on ODBD's Blog for this technique a few weeks ago that you can find here.  It's a fun and easy to do.

The cross is made using the Crosses Two Dies from Spellbinders that I recently bought. I loved the look of them matted together using 4 of the dies, and wanted to use them on a card.

Here's a close-up of the cross and the tissure paper mat.

The Bible Verse I used is from the Scripture Collection 8 Stamp Set from ODBD.  This particular Verse, Psalm 119:165, is the one I chose to contribute to the collection this year...so exciting Kelley at ODBD allowed us to do this!!!

I'm submitting this to the latest Word Art Wednesday Challenge #24 that you can find here.

For ingredients used:

Stamp: Scripture Collection 8 (ODBD)
Paper: Lavender Lace (SU), Solar White (Neenah), adhesive paper (Papertry Ink)
Ink: Onyx Black (VersaFine)
Accessories: Tissue paper ($1 store), Crosses Two, Moroccan Accents, Labels Twenty (Spellbinders Dies), adhesive pearls (Want-2-Scrap), stylus, flower (Recollections), lace (Really Reasonable Ribbon)

That's is for today!

Blessings!

To make the challenge even more fun, we will be giving out a prize, a $15 gift certificate to be used toward stamps at the Our Daily Bread Designs store!! Entries for the prize must be submitted by Friday, April 20th at 8 a.m. EST. One random winner will be chosen and announced next Saturday.

If you upload your creations to Splitcoast Stampers or any other online gallery, please use the keyword is ODBDSLC104. When creating your posts on blogs please include a link to the challenge.

Here's my take on the challenge this week, a center step card.  I used the tutorial from Split Coast Stampers which you can find here

I used this beautiful new stamp called "Prayer of St. Francis".    I love the words to this and the pretty font that's used.  You really don't need to add much to this to make a card.  I think this would be really nice to put in a decorated frame for a gift...which I think I may do!

Here's a close-up of the bow with that gorgeous silk ribbon from Really Reasonable Ribbon.  I'm already almost out of this and will definitely need to get more and maybe check some other colors.  Under the bow is black lace that I cut two sections apart and placed together to look like a butterfly.  I thought it looked pretty neat and only used a tiny bit of the lace!

Here's a picture of the inside, I cut out one of the butterflies on the designer paper, curled it a little, and glued it down to just add a little something.

For my SPRING ingredients, I used:

S-Silk, P-Prayer, R-Rhinestones, I-Ink, N-New Stamp, G-Green

For all ingredients used:

Stamps: Prayer of St. Francis (ODBD)
Paper: Gabrielle Collection (Bo Bunny), Black (Stampin' Up), Natural White (Neenah), gold (DCWV Stack)
Ink: Onyx Black (VersaFine), Turquoise Gem (VersaMagic), Midnight Confession (Powder Puffs)
Accessories: Silk ribbon (Really Reasonable Ribbon), lace (Jo-Ann's), flower (RAK from Sabrina), Fanciful Flourish Die (Cheery Lynn Designs), rhinestone swirls (Recollections), sponge, adhesive pearls (Recollections).

For more inspiration, please visit the other ladies on the design team and see their beautiful creations!

I'm also entering this into two other challenges, the latest challenge at Word Art Wednesday Challenge #23 which you can find here.  This is the verse given for you to use if you choose.  What a beautiful verse and message this is.

Also, the latest challenge at Stampin' Sister's in Christ,  Challenge #134, which you can find here.  The challenge is to make a joy-ful card, something celebratory! This is the verse given to us.

SCRIPTURE:
"Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart." Hebrews 12:2-3

I'd also like to thank all of you that voted for me at Heartfelt Creations for their Design Team Contest.  Yesterday was the last day to vote, and I submitted my projects to them.  Now I just need to wait and see!  Thank you for supporting me!

That's it for today! Hope to see you join in on the SPRING Challenge!

Blessings!

Here's the inside...very simple...

This beautiful verse is from ODBD's Scripture Series 2 Stamp Set.  I decided on white and yellow, which I love this time of the year.

Elphine House Australia Color Challenge

Hi there!

It's time for another challenge at Elphine House Australia!  This time it's a color challenge using Easter or pastels colors.  You can use any Elisabeth Bell image for your creation, not just Elphine House Australia.  The winner will be chosen by random.org and will receive 2 stamps of their choice!

Here is my take on the challenge:

I decide to use one of EHA's new stamps called "It's a Boy".  Isn't this adorable, cute little man with a cute little one?  I colored the image with my Prismacolor Pencils and mineral spirits.  I had some fun with my stylus this time to create a little texture before I applied the pencil color.  I did lines on his hair and pants, argyle on his sweater, and dots on his tie.  I've had these designer papers from K & Co. for a long time, about time I used them!

For ingredients used:

Stamps: It's a Boy (EHA), Teeny Tiny Wishes (SU)
Paper: Itsy Bitsy Baby Boy Designer Paper (K&Co.), blue (DCWV Cardstock Pack), yellow & orange (Bazzill's Earthtones Mat Stack), white (Georgia Pacific)
Ink: Onyx Black (Versafine), Banana Bliss (Powder Puffs)
Accessories: Brads, star & wood buttons, ribbons (Michaels), Labels Eight Nestibilities (Spellbinders), square punch (SU), pearl cotton thread (DMC), stylus, Prismacolor pencils, mineral spirits, Bow-Easy

Hope to see you join in on the challenge this next 2 weeks!

Blessings!

Kathy
