Be Joyful

Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. Be anxious for nothing, but in EVERYTHING by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the PEACE OF GOD, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:4-7

These are verses I memorized years ago and they are written on my heart. There are times when I still need to remember not to be anxious, but I eventually listen to my heart saying these verses. I didn't really understand what the "peace of God" was until I experienced it. It's having peace inside you, even when you're going through heartbreaking situations and trials. It does "surpass ALL understanding" and you know it comes from GOD alone. Praise the Lord for His wonderful promises!

I love, love, love what I do. I am passionate about the things I create and the talents God has placed in me. I SO appreciate the time you take to look at my things and the comments you all leave me!

Blessings to you!

I used this beautiful villa view image from the Italiana Riviera Set, colored it with pencils and mineral spirits and fussy cut it. The wine bottle and grape vine are from the Italiana Grape Cluster Set that I colored with pencils and mineral spirits and cut with matching dies.

The background mat is made using two different designer papers from the collection, adding trim to cover the seam, then the sentiment is stamped directly on the paper.

Sweet Lullaby Brag Book

Hi there!

Today I have a "brag book" to show you that I made for one of my neighbors that recently had a baby.  These books are so easy to put together and make a nice gift.

To decorate the book I used Heartfelt Creations stamps, designer papers and dies from the Sweet Lullaby Collection. The baby shoe image was colored with pencils and mineral spirits and die cut with Decorative Labels 22 Die.

Here is the inside of the book which contains 8 - A2 clear envelopes that you can put pictures in. I also included a blank Labels 22 die cut that can be written on.

To package this up for gift giving, I used an 8 11/16" x 11 14/16" clear envelope and cut it down to fit. (I normally use a 6 1/8" x 8 1/2" clear seamed envelope, but I was all out.) I then created a "sticker" with a sentiment and my Create-A-Sticker Machine.

You can see full instructions for this at the end of my post. Hope you like my little brag book project and it inspire you!

Other products: Paper: Solar White (Neenah), yellow (DCWV), Baby Blue (Coredinations); Ink: Sea Breeze, Thatched Straw (VersaMagic), Onyx Black (VersaFine); Accessories: 8 - A2 clear bags, 1 - 8 11/16" x 11 15/16" clear bag, Buttercup Liquid Pearls (Ranger), heart shape button, Xyron Create-A-Sticker, Spellbinders Labels 22, Decorative Labels 22, Crop-A-Dile Tool, White Embossing Powder (Stampin Up), heat tool, yellow fibers, Bow-Easy Tool, Scor-Tape, Scotch Mounting Tape, glue dots, mineral spirits, paper stumps, Prismacolor Pencils: Kelp Green, Marine Green, Cloud Blue, Slate Blue, Indigo Blue, Jasmine, Sandbar Brown, Light Umber, Cool Greys 10, 30, 50%

Instructions: Brag book measures 4 3/4" x 7 1/4". Follow instructions for Clear Envelope Brag Book on Split Coast Stampers here. Use Baby Blue cardstock for back/spine and front of book. (I included 8 clear envelopes in this book.) Create mats for the front and inside of book by cutting Sweet Lullaby papers to fit, inking edges with Sea Breeze and gluing down. Die cut Labels 22 with yellow cardstock and glue to inside of book. Die cut Labels 22 with Baby Blue cardstock and adhere to front of book with Scotch Mounting Tape.

Stamp baby shoe image from Sweet Dreams Cling Set on Solar White with Onyx Black Ink. Color with pencils and mineral spirits using paper stumps. Die cut image with Decorative Labels 22 and add to front with Scotch Mounting Tape.

Use Crop-A-Dile Tool to punch 2 holes for binding as pictured, add fibers or ribbon and tie in a knot or bow. Make a small multi-loop bow with fibers and add to top right with glue dots. Add heart button to bow with glue dots. Add Buttercup Liquid Pearls to flower centers on image.

For gift packaging, I used an 8 11/16" x 11 15/16" clear bag and cut off the top extra. (Normally I use 6 1/8" x 8 1/2" clear bags for these, but I was all out and had to make do with a larger bag by cutting it down.) To close the bag I created a sentiment "sticker" by stamping the Sweet Lullaby Sentiments on yellow cardstock with VersaMark Ink, heat embossing with White Embossing Powder and die cutting with matching Once Upon a Time Die. Select the "Congratulations" sentiment and create a "sticker" by running it through the Xyron Create-A-Sticker Machine. Add to back of packaging to close.

Italiana Grape Border

Happy Wednesday!

It's time for the new Italiana Riviera Collection from Heartfelt Creations!

It's time to slow down the daily pace, take a deep breath and embrace life with the new Heartfelt Creations Italiana Riviera Collection. We invite you to stroll down the Italian coastline taking in the spectacular seaside views, open markets, and amazing architecture while allowing yourself to relax and get lost in an easy going way of life. Feel the gentle breeze, breathe in the aromas of salty mist and mouthwatering eats as you pass by a harbour lined with delightful cafes and quaint little shops calling out to you to pause for a visit. Step through towering stone gates to meander through perfectly manicured vineyards boasting rows and rows of coiling vines filled with dense foliage and plump clusters of exquisitely purple hued grapes. Then as the sun sets, continue to take in the old world charm and beauty of the area as you relax in your villa, enjoying a glass of fine wine aged to perfection while jotting down all of the days wonderful adventures on an old fashioned postcard, pausing occasionally only to peer out the old stone window that reveals the most surreal view of lush gardens, stately mountains, beautiful flowers and that perfectly manicured vineyard. For my card this week I'm using the Italiana Grape Border Cling Set. There are 2 borders in the set which I stamped next to each other on white cardstock. These are colored with pencils and mineral spirits and then I added ribbon and trim between the 2 borders and a couple of bows.

Yellow Enchanted Mum

Happy Wednesday!

I have a new card for you today using Heartfelt Creations' Enchanted Mum Collection!

The flower is from the Enchanted Mum Bouquet Set that I stamped and die cut twice and partially glued together. I love that the image has a matching die! No fussy cutting on this one! I also added some dragonflies using the Enchanted Dragonflies Set and matching die. The green and yellow "frame" is a card panel from the Enchanted Mum Paper Collection that I trimmed down and die cut the center.

The images were stamped with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed with Aged Ivory Embossing Enamel. Coloring of these was done with chalk inks and make-up applicators. I used the same method on these that I did in the tutorial here. To finish the card I added some Heart of Gold Prills to the flower center and a little Diamond Stickles here and there to the flower, leaf centers and dragonflies.

Be sure to visit the HC Blog to see what the designers have for you this week! Emma Lou also has a new video for you here using the Enchanted Mum Collection! She make things look so easy!

Whether you are celebrating special occasions or preserving precious family memories, an enchanting time of creativity awaits you with the Enchanting Mum Collection.

This week I have a gate fold card for you using this new collection!

I used the Enchanted Mum Bouquet for the pretty flourish and the Enchanted Dragonflies for the dragonflies and the sentiment banner on the inside.  The images were stamped with Aged Ivory Embossing Enamel on Natural White Cardstock and colored with chalk inks using make-up applicators. Here is a tutorial I did on this coloring technique is you would like to check it out.

All of these pieces were die cut with matching dies (LOVE these matching dies) and then I glued them to the Natural White background cut with Labels 28. I also created a "frame" for the image by taping 2 of the Label 28 dies together and die cutting with Natural White Cardstock. The green background is cut with the Decorative Labels 28 die.

Here is  a picture of the card open so you can see the inside.

Be sure to visit the HC Blog to see the designers beautiful projects this week! Emma Lou also has a wonderful tutorial showing you how to shape the mum flowers.

Berry Sweet Raspberries Card and Gift Bag

Happy Wednesday!

I'm back with a cute card and gift bag using Heartfelt Creations' Farmers Market Collection!

I made the card clean and simple using a kraft pre-made card for the base. I stamped the sentiment directly on the base, then added one of the large raspberry swirls colored with pencils and mineral spirits. I love these stamped images with the matching die! So easy to work with! Then I added a bow and pearl to embellish it.

For the gift bag, I used a kraft pre-made bag and added some of the beautiful designer paper to cover the front of it. I then embellished it with some lace, trim, bows and a tag cut from the designer papers. A quick and easy gift presentation with a card to match!

Poppies with Sympathy

Happy Wednesday!

It's time for a little inspiration with Heartfelt Creations! This week I have a sympathy card made with The Blazing Poppy Collection.

I made these poppy flowers a few weeks ago, but couldn't decide what I wanted to do with them. I found this designer paper from the collection that went nicely with them and then just added a few embellishments to pull it all together!

Here's a closeup of the flowers. I used the coloring and shaping technique that I did on my tutorial you can see here on my blog or here on the Heartfelt Creations' Blog.

Be sure to visit the HC Blog to see what the designers have come up with this week! Lots of beautiful creations there!

Sparkling Poinsettia Step by Step Coloring and Shaping Tutorial

Happy Friday!

I'm so excited today to have a tutorial I've written featured on the  Heartfelt Creations Blog.

This is the project I created for the tutorial.

I've been using this coloring technique for a while now and love the soft look it gives and how easy it is to do!

For my tutorial I'm using the Sparkling Poinsettia, but you can use almost any flower for this technique. Here's a little close-up of the beautiful poinsettia flower.

Now, for the tutorial!

Sparkling Poinsettia Step by Step Coloring and Shaping Tutorial

Step 1) Stamp flowers and leaves on Natural White Cardstock with VersaMark Ink and heat emboss with Aged Ivory Embossing Enamel. Apply heat from underneath so that the little gold specks don’t blow away.

Note: Click on the photos to see a closer view.

Step 2) Using make-up applicators and chalk inks, color the flowers. Start with a light application of color from the center of the flower petal and fading to the outside of the petal. Depending on how “juicy” my ink pad is, I usually dab off a lot of the color on paper towel first so I can get a light application. You can always add more color, but you can't take it away. I'll then go back and add a little more color to create more of a shadow. You can see here how one petal is a little darker than the others.

Step 3) For the leaves, I apply the color down the center and fade to the outside. For the berry clusters, I apply a little bit of both colors.

Step 4) Die cut the flowers and leaves with the matching dies.

Step 5) Clip between the flower petals with scissors.

Step 6) Spritz lightly on backs of flowers, leaves and center clusters with water before shaping. (Note: do this process of spritzing and shaping one piece at a time.)

Step 7) Shape flower petals with curler tool by pressing the tool down the center of each petal on the embossing mat.

Step 8) Shape leaves down the center using your fingernail. (Or a stylus tool if you don’t have any!)

Step 9) Shape flower center cluster by cupping each on the back with a stylus tool, then turn over and press stylus tool in the center so the cluster pops up.

Step 10) This is how your flowers, leaves and clusters should look when done.

Step 11) Using Art Institute Glue Dries Clear, glue flower together offsetting petals. Glue leaves to back of flower.

Step 12) Cut Natural White cardstock 4 1/2” x 6”. Stamp sentiment on lower right using VersaMark Ink and heat embossing with Brown Sugar Embossing Powder.

Step 13) Die cut Decorative Lace Border with Natural White and glue to mat. It’s best to used the Metal Glue Tip with the glue although it’s not in the picture here.

Step 14) Add Jute Ribbon over die cut using Scor-Tape. Make a multi-loop bow with fibers using a bow making tool and add to mat using Aleenes Tacky Glue. Add mat to a 4 3/4” x 6 1/4” blue card base using Scotch Mounting tape.

(You can find a basic tutorial here on using the Bow-Easy Tool like did here if you need it. My bow was made wrapping it 9 times...I usually always make it an odd number. The thinner the ribbon/fiber is, the more times I will wrap it.)

Step 15) Add flower to card using Aleene's Tacky Glue.

Step 16) To decorate the inside of the card, cut a 4 1/2” x 6” mat with Natural White. Stamp the sentiment with VersaMark and heat emboss with Brown Sugar Embossing Powder. Using the Sparkling Poinsettia Swirl Set, stamp the poinsettia swirl on the top left with VersaMark Ink and heat emboss from underneath with Aged Ivory Embossing Enamel. Color image with chalk inks using same method as you did with the flowers, leaves and clusters. Add mat to inside of card.

I'm submitting this to the Word Art Wednesday Challenge #193 - Anything Goes/Family Friendly

I hope you enjoyed my tutorial! I love coloring with pencils, but it's a lot of work sometimes. This technique to so easy to do and I love how it comes out! Hope you like it too!

Blessings!

Kathy

Poinsettia Christmas Dinner Place Card

Happy Wednesday!

Today I have a quick little project to make for your Christmas dinner this year, a place card for your guests.

To make the place card I used Spellbinders Decorative Labels 8 largest die to cut Natural White cardstock. Then I scored it down the center.

Fold in half on crease to create place card.

Then just decorate with flowers and write your guest names on each card. Here's a close up of the pretty poinsettia flower.

Be sure to visit the HC Blog to see all the beautiful creations by the designers this week!
